On Saturday morning, February 20th, Local members honored the memory of Engineer John Wood Sr. On February 20, 1981 Engineer Wood was operating a brush truck on the scene of a large wildland fire east of Pine Drive and north of Mainstreet near Parker when he tragically suffered a heart attack and died. In honor and remembrance of Engineer Wood’s service and sacrifice to the community, a ceremony was held at the SMFR Memorial with his family, Honor Guard and Pipes & Drums.
