Clubhouse Dr. Confined Space Rescue
Posted On: Nov 10, 2021

At 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Local members and Parker Police Department Officers responded to a Confined Space Rescue at 19600 Clubhouse Drive. A 911 caller reported that a 10-year-old child was trapped in a below ground stormwater pipe behind a metal grate. 33 members from South Metro were dispatched including the Technical Rescue and Hazardous Materials Teams. Upon arrival, members from Engine 41 and Engine 47 contacted the child and quickly freed them without the need for specialized equipment. Thankfully this child and two others who were playing in the pipe were not injured and fresh air was available. Aside from the risk of becoming wedged in a narrow pipe or injured, low oxygen levels or other hazardous fumes can lead to respiratory distress or loss of consciousness in confined spaces like these.
