South Platte River Incident
Posted On: Jul 09, 2019

Just after 8 p.m. on Monday July 8, 2019, Local members responded to a possible water rescue in the South Platte River behind Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton. A person saw an unknown object caught in the rocks and dialed 911. Members specially trained in swift water rescue donned protective equipment while responding to the area and arrived ready to deploy into the river, if needed. Crews positioned on both sides of the river and determined that the object was not a person and didn’t appear to be a watercraft. Pedestrians on the trail were interviewed, no one witnessed anyone in distress and the banks of the river checked clear to Bowles Avenue. After 40 minutes investigating and no reports of anyone missing, incident command determined that it was abandoned debris and all resources left the scene.
