Downing St. Structure Fire

Around 3:45am Monday, January 13th Local members responded to a house fire in the 3600 block of S. Downing St. in Cherry Hills Village. When members arrived on scene they found a house fully involved in fire and immediately began fighting the fire defensively from the outside of the structure. Members used a variety of tactics to get the fire under control - including blitz fire attack, which involves spraying a large and forceful amount of water directly at the fire to quickly knock it down. Members also used the aerial master stream from SMFR Ladder 12 to continue monitoring the fire from above. A portion of Highway 285 was shut down during the fire because of apparatus traffic and water access. The home was unoccupied at the time and no utilities were turned on. No injuries to report. The cause is under investigation. Thank you to Englewood Police, Cherry Hills Village Police, and Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc. for your support on this incident.
