Cimarron Road Vehicle into House
Posted On: Apr 09, 2020

At 5:24 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Local members responded to a vehicle collision involving a structure at 5307 Cimarron Road. The driver of a SUV accidentally backed their car through a fence, over a natural gas meter and ran into the home. When members arrived, they found the gas meter free flowing and significant damage to the corner of the house. The gas was quickly shut off and members confirmed that no one was injured. Technical Rescue Team members from Rescue 34 placed emergency stabilization inside the front room to prevent a collapse, then the vehicle was removed to further assess the damage. In the process of removing the vehicle, the natural gas meter was ripped from its base, causing another gas leak. A Gas Emergency Response team from Xcel Energy dug in the front yard and successfully clamped the gas line, stopping the leak. After that hazard was mitigated, Rescue 34 installed additional shoring to support the structure. The operation took just over 2 hours to complete.
