Powers Ave. Car vs Gas Meter
Posted On: Nov 22, 2020

At 4:49 a.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020, Local members responded to a collision involving a vehicle into a home at 837 W. Powers Ave. in Littleton. First arriving Littleton Police Officers reported a natural gas leak, evacuated the occupants and checked for injuries. When members arrived, they stood by with a charged hose line in case anything ignited and confirmed that no one was hurt. They attempted to shut the gas off, but the line was broken below the meter and required an emergency response from Xcel Energy. The vehicle was safely pulled back with a tow truck, allowing Xcel to better assess the situation. Xcel slowed the leak down significantly but had to dig a hole in the yard and clamp the line to completely mitigate the problem. No other homes needed to be evacuated due to the gas leak and Littleton Police Department is conducting the accident investigation.
