Just before 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 23, 2020, Local 2086 and 4116 members along with Elizabeth Fire Rescue responded to an outbuilding fire on Chalet Circle in Unincorporated Douglas County. When members arrived on scene, they found a barn on fire. Crews pulled a horizontal standpipe for fire attack and tenders brought extra water to the scene with this barn being in an unhydranted area. Members were able to quickly get the fire under control and ultimately kept fire conditions from extending to most of the structure. Crews remained on scene to ventilate the barn and put out hot spots inside. A horse and two sheep were inside the barn at the time, but were able to escape safely. The fire did not threaten the home nearby and no residents or firefighters were injured. SMFR Fire Investigators found the cause of the fire to be electrical.
