Centennial Mid Air Plane Collision

At 10:24 a.m. on Wednesday May 12, 2021, Local members were alerted by the Centennial Airport Control Tower to a plane crash south of Cherry Creek Reservoir in Arapahoe County. Moments later 911 callers reported a midair collision and small plane down in a field just south of Belleview Avenue and west of Peoria Street. When members arrived, they found a damaged Cirrus upright in the grass with no fire or smoke, no fuel spill and both occupants had safely exited the aircraft uninjured. Centennial Airport Operations personnel confirmed that a damaged Metroliner carrying freight safely landed without incident and the pilot was not injured. Local members along with, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Centennial Airport and Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc. worked together to document the scene which included securing the large debris field and using UAV’s to photograph the area from above. The cause of the incident is being investigated by the NTSB.
