Wednesday, June 8, 2022 – 7:19 p.m., Local members were dispatched to a home, near E. Wildcat Reserve Pkwy and Poston Pkwy in Littleton, after a resident saw a fire in their neighbor’s backyard. Initial 9-1-1 callers thought the fire was coming from a grill and could be extending towards the home. First arriving members saw smoke coming from the back of the house and were quick to pull hose lines. The safety officer found heat signatures coming from the lower windows, indicating that the fire was coming from the basement. Members found that the fire was well-established and had burned through the first floor. Members from Tower18 utilized the VEIS technique and searched the second floor and confirmed that all residents were out of the home. Additionally, a police officer from Douglas County Sheriff’s Office rescued the homeowners’ dog upon arrival. No injuries were reported.
With much of the first floor compromised, members were limited in their access to extinguish the fire. Fortunately, members overcame the challenge with multiple hose lines and the fire was quickly placed under control. Extensive overhaul had members working for a couple of additional hours. The Fire Mashall’s Office will investigate the exact cause of the fire.
